PSCVN Internal Exhibition of Photography Westminster, California, U.S.A.
GENERAL CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

1. Entrants must own the copyright of all images used in any submitted slide or print. The exhibition accepts no liability for any breach of copyright by an entrant. Submission of an entry signifies acceptance of and compliance with all conditions of entry by an entrant. Images produced from materials copyrighted by persons other than the maker are unacceptable.

2. This exhibition will follow the recommended procedures of PSA for special recognition and is open this time to PSCVN members, however, an entry may be rejected when the sponsoring organization or its agent, in its reasonable discretion, has deemed it inappropriate for display.

3. Original Image statement — “Entries must originate as photographs (image-captures of object via light sensitivity) made by the entrant on photographic emulsion or acquired digitally. All images must be original and may not incorporate elements produced by anyone else. By virtue of submitting an entry, the entrant certifies the work as his/her own and permits the sponsors to reproduce all or part of the entered material free of charge for publication and/or display in media related to the exhibition. The exhibition assumes no liability for any misuse of copyright by the entrant. Any modification of the original image must be made by the exhibitor, subject to divisional restrictions. All final work must be on photographic film or photographic or electronic print material, mounting excepted.”

4. Notification notes will be sent immediately after the judging. A maximum of 100 accepted prints in all sections will be chosen to exhibit.

5. All possible care will be taken to protect prints and slides; however, responsibility cannot be ed for lost or damaged entries.

6. Last date for entries June 04, 2009 . Judging will be June 7th. Exhibited June 14th and 15th 2009.

7. Judging will be by an electronic machine. Scores will be reported to each entrant.

8. There are four sections: (Judged Separately)

1/ PICTORIAL COLOR.
2/ PICTORIAL MONOCHROME.
3/ PICTORIAL CREATIVE.
4/ NATURE GENERAL.

9. Maximum of 4 prints each section. Entry fee is $10.00 for one section, $20.00 for two sections, $25.00 for three sections, $30.00 for four sections.

10. All Prints must be maximum size of 16” x 20” (40.6x50.8 cm.) but not smaller than 11” x 14” with Matting and must be adhered to a ¼ inch mounting (foreign entries and Vietnam excepted with prints only). No framed prints accepted.

11. The photographers name and address and the title of each print must appear on the back of the mount must be at upper left corner to correspond with the entry form. No name or title on front of mounting or print.

12. Division Definitions:
Monochrome definition: Monochrome is a black & white work fitting from the very dark grey (black) to the very clear grey (white) is a monochrome work with the various shades of grey. A black & white work toned entirely in a single color (plus one fully tone color) will remain a monochrome work able to stand in the black & white category.
Color definition: When a black & white work modified by a partial toning or by the addition of one color becomes a color work (polychrome) to stand in the color category. Hand colored prints or prints with color added are considered color prints. Nature General definition: “Nature Photography is restricted to the use of the photographic process to depict observations from all branches of natural history, except anthropology and archeology, in such a fashion that a well informed person will be able to identify the subject material and certify as to its honest presentation.

The story telling value of a photograph must be weighed more than the pictorial quality. Humn elements shall not be present, except on the rare occasion where those human elements enhance the nature story. The presence of scientific bands on wild animals is acceptable. Photographs of artificially produced hybrid plants or animals, mounted specimens, or obviously set arrangements, are ineligible, as is any form of manipulation that alters the truth of the photographic statement. No elements may be moved, cloned, added, deleted, rearranged or combined. No manipulation or modification is permitted except resizing, sharpening, cropping, selective lightening or darkening, and restoration of original color to the scene. No special effects filters can be applied. Any adjustments must appear natural.”

Pictorial Creative definition: Pictorial Creative is defined as altered reality that is apparent to the viewer. Pictorial Creative images are judged both for their technical and pictorial merit. The image should have strong composition, pleasing quality, and color, texture, pattern, and/or tone impact. The appropriateness of the technique selected to create altered reality is considered in judging. The content is unrestricted, but requires no nudity.

13. The same base image can not enter more than one section (the image originally enter monochrome, then it is used in color)
14. The decision of the jury are final and without appeal.

General Monochrome Print. (Gold, Silver, Bronze, 5 HM)
General Color Print. (Gold, Silver, Bronze, 5 HM)
Creative Print: (Gold, Silver, Bronze, 5 HM)
Nature General Print. (Gold, Silver, Bronze, 5 HM)
